What To Do In Ludington
If you haven't been to Ludington before, it's a must you check it out!
Ludington is similar to that cute town that you would see in the movies. The downtown is full of fun restaurants, shops, fitness studios, and so much more. Not to mention, the downtown is a short walk to the incredible beach. The town as a whole has a variety of grocery stores, great schools, a movie theater, an amazing state park and is ever growing. Let me give you a few things that you have to experience while visiting Ludington.
1. Stearns Park
Stearns park is the heart of Ludington for obvious reasons. For starters the beach has 2500 Ft of beautiful shoreline giving you ample space to layout and catch a tan, play a round of volleyball, take a soothing walk or just to enjoy the breathtaking sunsets. Stearns Park has plenty of free parking, making it incredibly easy to access for a couple hours or for the whole day. If you don't feel like walking the shore, take a stroll on the amazing pier, also called the Ludington North Breakwater Light. This is certainly a must see while visiting Ludington.
2. Shop Local
Downtown Ludington is full of so many fun shops ranging from furniture, clothes, food, gifts and more. A few stores in particular are Grateful Heart & Home , The Hangar, Moda - Elevated Fashion of My Sister's Closet, , House on Hansen, Mariellen's Hallmark Shop, Gliks, Synder's Shoes and so much more. A few fun restaurants are, Table 14, Sportsmans , Jamesport Brewing Company , Blu Moon, House of Flavors, The Mitten Bar, Q- Smokehouse and much more! Ludington has new places coming to down as well in the near future and this is only a small section of what the town has to offer! This is a good start to having a great time in Ludington!
3. Ludington State Park
Camping, hiking, biking, going to the beach, fishing and fun state park event's is what's happening at Ludington's State Park. With 5,300 beautiful acres of land full of adventure, the Ludington State Park is a MUST see when visiting Ludington. The hiking trails make you feel like you're on a different planet. Whether you want to go on a solo peaceful hike, or bring your family or furry friend, it is perfect either way. The campground is perfect for that weekend get-away. The campsites are surrounded by woods, dunes and water... you literally can't beat it. There are around 355 camp sites, and a few mini cabins. Don't miss the chance to create unforgettable memories at the state park.
4. Historic White Pine Village
White Pine Village is a fun family-friendly place providing an educational adventure for your kids to learn the lifestyle in the late 19th, early 20th century pioneer village. I personally remember going here when I was younger and thought it was so neat. The village has 30 historic exhibits buildings full of interesting information and activities. If you have even a half of day free and looking for something fun and unique to do with the family, I recommend checking out the Historic White Pine Village.
5. SS Badger Lake Michigan CarFerry
Looking for something unique and maybe to branch out of Ludington a bit - catch a ride on the SS Badger. The Badger is a fun boat ride that goes across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin. The badger has food, drinks, children playroom, movie theater, outdoor, lounging, and much more! If you don't want to go far, the Badger also offers shoreline cruises that allows you catch a sunset and get the full Badger experience. I recommend checking it out regardless whether you're a passenger, or just waving at the passengers as they head out!
